Treatment for dislocated Jaw
Temporomandibular joint luxation (TMJ luxation, or jaw
dislocation) occurs as a result of trauma. In most situations the joint can be
replaced under anesthesia and surgery is not needed. A good working knowledge
of traumatic injuries, and experience performing the maneuver are a must to
ensure success. Often traumatic injuries to the head and face are complicated situations
with multiple injuries present (such as jaw fractures), so it’s critical to evaluate for all injuries
that might be present using advanced imaging.
