Metal Crown Placement
Metal crowns are an excellent option to protect teeth that
have had traumatic damage and/or root canal treatment.
A metal crown is especially helpful on large chewing teeth,
and canine teeth following injuries, especially if the pet in question has very
aggressive chewing habits.
Metal crowns are not indestructible, and it's important to
eliminate parafunctional habits, such as rock chewing and rock carrying, where
possible, but a metal crown will make a tooth more durable and more resistant
to fracture than even the original tooth.
We strongly recommend placing a crown on all chewing teeth
receiving a root canal treatment and for all working dogs who have sustained a
canine tooth fracture.
