Jaw Fracture Repair
Jaw fracture repair is a technically challenging procedure
and should only be performed by practitioners with advanced training and experience in trauma
repair of the mouth.
There are many different ways that a jaw fracture can be
repaired and it is heavily nuanced by the size of pet, type of injury,
configuration of fracture, and amount of trauma that they experienced.
In general, treatment will not be fully successful unless it
is intended to repair all injuries to all structures, including bones, teeth,
and soft tissue.
A Board Certified Veterinary Dentist™ with training in oral
surgery is the individual with the most training in addressing all of these
structures within the mouth. In addition to training, experience with a variety
of fracture situations and equipment is critical for the best outcome.
Multiple surgical procedures are often required to address
all injuries, and ensure adequate follow up, which is why we use a flat pricing
model that includes follow-up and care of complications in healing the original
injury.
It does not include care of any other oral issues that may be present,
but is intended to give pet parents peace of mind that we’re on your side to
get this problem solved, whatever it takes.
